The Bible says fear no man, so what actually has the nation trembling? Could it be this young innovative producer, whose contagious music, cutting edge lyrics, unforgettable melodies, and unconventional production is transforming the state of music. The edgy sound of Kevin “KP” Pridgen of Fontez Camp Productions, is a force to be reckoned with. So what started “KP” on this journey? He soaked up the understanding of making records, by watching and admiring such pioneers as, John P Kee, Timbaland, Michael Jackson, Prince and Queen.
Birth
So where exactly did “KP” come from? This musical genius came from greatness. With parents Beverly Pridgen and Kevin Pridgen Sr. in his corner, this Baltimore, Maryland native had the privilege to be brought up with a very strong musical background. His mother would sing on church choirs and several praise and worship teams, while his father was known to be an entrepreneur. He was also a prominent drummer, an illustrious DJ, and was even known to have a flare for high fashion. So within this great union a star was born. His attraction to music was so great, that at a very young age, “KP” would spend hours watching musicians play. It was as if the music called his name. He was so fascinated by it, that as time went on “KP” became an ordained musician, and would go on to be a prominent drummer for several artists, churches, and touring concerts and plays.
Hunger
It started with a dream. “KP” has always been a very big dreamer, and has always wanted to do something to nurture that dream, since he was a youngster. However it grew to be more than a dream. “KP” was compelled to do something that would have a major impact, on not only just one area or region, but would ultimately change the musicality of the entire world. At one point, he just knew he would be PRODUCING RECORDS for many artists, of all genres of music. It seems that his start was enhanced when his mother introduced him to church, but it wasn’t until he was old enough to understand how his life really benefited from growing up in church. The music really caught his attention, and he learned the art of drumming. He realized he was picking up things at a rapid pace, so something more had to be done to fulfill this vision. As he continued through the years, God really took him to the next level.
Accomplishments
“KP” Founded Fontez Camp in June 2002 and has been working non stopped ever since. In 2003, the company branded its name and sound on several multi platinum artists. Those artists include; Christina Milian, Sisqo, Jonathan Nelson, Jason Nelson, Marvin Sapp, Smokie Norful, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Peedi Crack, Omillio Sparks, Jessica Greene and newcomer James Murphy. He was also privileged to merge a distribution deal with Universal Music Christian Group/Habakkuk Music.
